Tac Gear CRS Review
|
The Chest Rigg Specialist, CRS, is designed and manufactured by Tac Gear in Germany. One can say that it is the more advanced of two manufactured Chest Rigg models—the other being the more basic Rodhesian-type which most are familiar with for its popular use in matches.

Originally designed for British military forces in urban combat in Northern Ireland, the CRS is still in wide use in states belonging to NATO. Tac Gear has improved on the design and adapted it for more effective use among German forces and other Nordic states. It is a piece of equipment designed to act away from vehicles, serving as a hub for other latest generation pieces from Tac Gear.

Tac Gear has manufactured a combat piece worthy of professional use with more cargo space thanks to its multiple pockets and accessories. When comparing it to other similar combat pieces, its comfort is unparalleled, also allowing for the use of a backpack as it leaves one’s back empty. It is ideal for reconnaissance missions and for those that would prefer to carry with them all of their cargo in the aforementioned backpacks. Made of nylon and high-resistance cordura, it is lightweight, breathable, and highly adaptable and is manufactured in the following camouflages: Flecktam, Desert-Flecktam, Danish M84, and Swedish M90. The subsequent review should serve as proof of this item’s unparalleled high quality.

To begin, it is important to recognize the item’s symmetry. It has the exact same pockets and accessories on both sides, thereby minimizing the task of familiarizing oneself with the piece.

Our analysis begins on the posterior part where at first glance we find the reinforced handle (1). As can be seen in the above photos, the handle is reinforced with double-stitching and serves to facilitate access whenever necessary. Next to the handle, on the left side, are two straps that complement a third shoulder strap (2); they all serve to guide forward and control Camel Bak’s hydration tube.

Continuing our analysis of the back of this professional piece of combat equipment, the mesh back makes it highly breathable, lightweight, and allows flexibility for whoever is wearing it. We also notice a Velcro strap (3) to place name, blood type or infrared identifiers. Below this strap are two easily removable, Velcro “cat eyes” (4) that serve as reflectors for nighttime activity. On the lowest part there is another Velcro section (5) ideal for the team’s patch or for other uses. The item is reinforced with two lateral bands (6) that maintain the item’s shape and improve durability.

The item has a set of height (7) and waist (8) adjustments, which allow for the CRS to sit right above the waist for maximized movement. After having used the CRS in the desert, it can be said that the ventilation system functions perfectly. It also allows for comfortable use of a backpack over it.
